Further progress on aviation securityCreated on 17th of December 2007 On 13 December 2007 the European Commission adopted a regulation allowing air passengers arriving from Singapore and transferring at an EU airport to take duty-free liquids on board their connecting flights. This is a major step forward as Singapore is the first country to have its security standards approved by the European Commission under Regulation (EC) 915/2007, introduced in July this year. Because of procedural requirements, the new arrangements will not become effective until 03 January 2008 - until then the current restrictions will continue to apply. After 03 January, passengers arriving at an EU airport from Singapore and transferring to another flight will no longer have to forfeit their duty-free liquids and gels when passing through security screening points, provided that their purchases are sealed in an ICAO specification tamper evident bag provided by shop operators at Changi airport. |
