New Security AgreementCreated on 31st of August 2010 Last Modified on the 31st of August 2010 The EU's Aviation Security Regulatory Committee (AVSEC) has agreed that all liquid restrictions at EU airports will be lifted by 29 April 2013. It also agreed to lift restrictions on transfer passengers carrying liquids, aerosols and gels arriving in the EU from any departure country from 29 April 2011.
Under the agreement, from 29 April 2011, any traveller arriving in the EU carrying duty-free liquids, aerosols or gels sealed inside a tamper-evident bag (that meets ICAO specifications), with a receipt that shows it was purchased within the past 36 hours, can freely transfer at any airport in the EU.
AVSEC reached political agreement on these new arrangements on 19 November 2009, with the formal regulation (297/2010) being published on 10 April 2010.
