Successful Labour Conference function

Created on 23rd of November 2005

The attendance at this year's annual UKTRF Labour Party Conference dinner on 26 September exceeded expectations. It included a Government Minister, a senior Government Whip, four Parliamentary Private Secretaries and a further ten Labour MPs.

The dinner provided the opportunity for an informal and wide ranging discussion of current issues with senior Government MPs. The function was organised by UKTRF Secretary General, Barry Goddard, who said that it was remarkable that representatives from so many different Government departments were in attendance, which reflected well on the credibility of the travel retail industry. Maintaining contact with a range of senior Government figures was a vital element of the UKTRF's representational activity on behalf of its Members. The UKTRF has a long tradition of hosting successful functions at the Labour Party Conference and is planning to continue this at the 2006 Conference in Manchester.
