Good news on duty-free to the USA

UK airports are progressively resuming sales of duty-free alcohol and perfume to travellers bound for the USA

Following agreement with the US Transport Security Administration, passengers travelling to the USA may now buy duty-free alcohol and perfume from airside shops at airports to carry on board their flight, without the need for gate delivery of the products. UK airports are therefore progressively resuming such sales. This follows a brief period when duty-free liquid and gel products were not available to travellers to the USA, as retailers had withdrawn the gate delivery facility previously required for such flights because of the logistical problems encountered (see previous news item). The removal of the requirement for gate delivery for US bound passengers will mean that they will be able to enjoy the same duty and tax-free shopping opportunities as travellers to all other destinations.
