Fraport sets new monthly traffic record

Fraport AG's Frankfurt Airport home base welcomed 5,281,632 passengers in July 2010 - exceeding the 5.2m passenger mark for the first time in a single month. This topped the previous record of July 2007 by nearly 90,000 passengers.

Canada airport/land border sales up

Canadian airport duty free sales rose by 12% to C$96m between January and June 2010 and by 22% in June to C$17m, while land border sales fell by -0.52% to C$56.8m in the first half, but increased by 5% to C$12.2m in June.

Dufry sales up 11.7% to Swf.1,268m in HY1

The Dufry Group's turnover increased by 15.8% at constant foreign exchange rates (FXR) in the first half to June 30, 2010, of which organic growth accounted for 10.2%, while EBITDA grew by 20.3% at constant FXR, translating into net earnings which almost doubled to Swf.60.7m.

Heathrow July traffic breaks all past records

The number of passengers travelling through BAA's UK airports increased by 0.3% to 10.9m in July, with Heathrow Airport recording its busiest-ever month, with 6.7m passengers - a 3.5% increase on the same month last year.

New UK 'shopping boom'

The UK is enjoying 'huge increases' in international shoppers from oil rich countries, according to research by Global Blue, the tax free refund company, with July alone seeing an 81% increase in shoppers from the Russian Federation, a 60% increase from the Middle East and a 38% increase from Nigeria, compared to the same period last year.
