Diageo pre-tax profits up 12% to $3.47bn

Despite weak demand in Europe and North America, drinks giant Diageo today reported a 12% increase in pre-tax profits to £2.24bn ($3.47bn) for the year ending June 30, thanks to strong growth in Asia, Africa, Latin America and also other developing markets. Increased marketing spend and the strong performance of premium and super premium brands led to an extremely impressive net sales growth of 19% in Global Travel and Middle East.
